the runner

Stephanie’s out on the track everyday. She’s a few seconds away from beating her own county record. Her friend, Isaac, has always wondered why she hasn’t joined a school team already. Is there a reason why Stephanie runs? And when a tragedy strikes, will she ever run again?

Who's Maureen? His ex.

---
I wish.

Last week of summer school. I had to do quite a few corrections on my powerpoint.
[ أمري ١٤ سنه .عمرهو ١٢ سنه .هو ٥٥ سنه .هي ٥٢ سنه ]

teeth and year are one "he" away. How could I have known?

I have to say I'm going to miss Arabic class. I've met some really cool people. Fortunately, I'll be seeing them next year as scrubs. (And apparently I'm being stalked by Mr. Jim and Co...He should stop having sex with everyone and everyTHING he sees.) I won't be seeing some really cool people though. Like Peter and Richard.
Haha. Those dorks.
My dorks.
...."Super" - Peter.

I had some intense bonding with the basketball team today. We raided the streets by Downey High School with a vengeance. (not really) The team's going to be awesome next year.

And finally, film camp is coming up. Oh, film camp...whatever shall I do without you. Last year, I met possibly the coolest people I will ever know there (Erica, Myles, Wolfie to name a few) so I wonder what'll happen in Advanced Digital Film. I'm there for two weeks so if you want to contact me, call be at seven-ish? Or leave a text. I'll answer my phone if I'm not at "work". I'm kind of scared though. It is Advanced Digital Film. I'm going to get slaughtered and trampled.
Hope for the best, right?
I'll be leaving Sunday afternoon to go check in. I'm coming back Friday the 7th. I'll be home for four (or five) days then I'm off to Hawaii for another two weeks.

Call. Text. Talk. Beat up (for some)

More Avatar
I'm very proud of this next one. Theatre time!
*click to make larger* :D

I think that pretty much wraps it up. OH. Can't forget to let Isabel know that I LOVE THAT YOU'VE COMMENTED ON ALMOST EVERY POINTLESS POST. thanks. It means a lot, really.

Avatar?

I'm in a very Avatar-y mood. What can I say? I love it. (I think you can click on them to get them larger. No dirty joke intended)

Okay...whew....

Here's some of real people :P

Reprise

Okay...so you guys DO care. :D

Today was fun. Ran into all my old buddies from Whitney at Towne Center. Also, got some boba and didn't lose in the first round of spoons/ cellphones. So then we got on the wrong bus to get back to my place so we switched buses like a second from where we got on and then safely landed back at my place.
Justina, Sarah, Susie, and Kyle talked for like an hour and a half while I tried to supply some background music with my guitar.
Then we played Rockband for like three hours.

It's the return of TwoRepublic!
good times.....it's hard to believe a year went by so fast.

Flawed Work of Art

No update in a while. Not like anyone cared.

I'm signed up for Advanced Film Studies for ages 16 and up. My mom made a call and I'm in. Now whether or not to sign up for the college credit....

I've been watching Bones a lot. I don't think it's healthy

Popularity in purgatory right now. I have no idea if Avi asked for the room.

I went to the Whitney Bottom Locker thing. That was pretty good. I can see there's a lot of talent there.

Film Club passed! I am now Vice President for Film Club next year.

Summer basketball! I'm so excited, I just can't hide it

Finals coming up. Oh dear.remember the good times.

Is There Anyone IN the Mainstream?

It won't tune...

...So we hear.

Well, yesterday I semi-chaperoned a date. That was pretty fun. I got beat up by Justina again. We played cards. Sarah was my lucky charm :D.....well, in some hands. I also had like a fluid overload. But Justina did finish half of my boba.
^a visual of justina beating me up

I brought math homework to towne center. I had the book, paper, a pencil, and everything but I was like, "CRAP! What are the problems???" Kyle said he didn't write them down so we started calling everyone up who might have internet access so they could check the homework for me. After a little bit, I give up...defeated.

Then Kyle pulls out his math folder and finds the math homework.

-.-

Anyways, the play went great. Sarah was wonderful! And more people came than I thought.

And to the people who came- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING! Sarah was really happy after the first show...as you can see.

Message in a Bottle

I was practicing that song on Rock Band hard drums. Man, when you THINK about the rhythm you mess up. Note to self: "don' t think". I got through it in the end though, so it's all good.

Today, I went to go see 17 Again. Sarah couldn't stop laughing. Apparently it was partly due to the fact that the guy next to us had a very creepy laugh. Also, that guy started singing along ot "Fergilicious" when it came on before basketball game. :S

Long critical review (with dork moment at the end):
---
Despite the continuity errors, it was an enjoyable movie. I almost don't want to bring out possible editing blips because I want to say that it was genuinely a good film. The story line was a mash of Big, Back to the Future, and some original-not-so-original fluffy sub-plot. Shankman did okay but I think the real genius-i were the writers. The dialogue was spunky, fresh, and kept me happy.

The editing and choice of shots on the other hand is another story. I understand some parts were meant to be a little overlapped but why so many? Also, this might be the actor's problem, but I noticed when cutting from one shot to the next the actor was doing something else or in a different position. That seems like a very amateur mistake to me. I'm not pointing any fingers *cough*zacefron*cough* but that really broke continuity.

Okay, read the rest before ya'll get mad at me for that Zac Efron thing. I believe this guy has a lot of potential, sure. He's on the rise and he's probably going to have great roles coming up for him but I think this guy needs a little more expierence on the big screen before he tries to take on an Oscar-esque movie. His acting in the movie was pretty good and at moments his "dad" character was really showing and genuine but the little things kind of blew the 10/10 ranking for him.

Other than Efron, Tom Lennon was perfect. I loved his character, too. You should've seen me in the theatre. When he was on his not-date with the principal and they started speaking Elfish, I freaked out. I told Jennie, "OHMYGOSH, THEY'RE SPEAKING ELF!" She gave me a "wtf" face and ignored my spazzing. Also, I. Want. His. House. He has LUKE'S LANDSPEEDER for a bed. And a Tatooine backround on his wall. (A New Hope LOVE!) Plus, his clone shock trooper coffee thingy? Awesome. The lightsaber battle had to be my favorite part of the movie.
---

Ahem...so that leads me to the new game me and Kev got- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. We only have one mission left. I find Felusia much more annoying than I used to. Them warriors are tough cookies.

If you couldn't tell, I love Star Wars.

I also love The Lord of the Rings, which is how I knew the Elf thing. I don't know if they were speaking Quenya or the other one, though.

Spring break's over. That was quick. And unproductive. Here's an old family picture from Christmas I touched up. My cousins are groovy. And kinda old. XP

Baby, It's You

I went on iTunes 2007 Essentials and listened to the songs. Flashback, much? Yeah, that title song is by Jojo way back in the day. It was stuck in my head.

So, I started off spring break with five rejections.
... Not THAT kind of rejection. I proposed my film club to five teachers and they all declined. On top of that, the two film studies teachers already said no. (FYI I am NOT merging with the comedy club guy. Seriously.)

Plus I've got homework. Lots of it.

On a better note, I found out how to get distinguishable dialogue on Doug. YAY!

Anyone going to be free over Spring Break? I was thinking the last weekend we could go watch 17 Again. It looks fun.

But hopefully I'll see all y'all before the last weekend of break. :D

Don't Think Just Do

Well, I'm enjoying Hump Day's late start right now. Thought I'd put in a post.

In the last week....I've been working. You know, position paper and all. But on the bright side, there wasn't any conditioning the last two days. I do have conditioning today, however. :(
School's normal. Oh, I'm trying to make a Film Criticism and Appreciation Club (or just film criticism. I need to talk it over with my cabinet XP)

I went to the 168 Hour Film Festival on Saturday. It was at the Alex Theater in Glendale. I was there to support a friend of mine that produced a short film being shown there. It won Best Picture, Best Sound Editing, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing, and two other awards. The whole experience was really nice. Glendale is so Old Hollywood-esque. I love it.

Yeeah. That was the main going-ons in my life. Pretty dull life, I know.

Popularity Progress:
Well I'm trying to get my mom to get me this camera. but I might be able to get better sound on Doug. My producer/ editor friend told me now. Still, it'd be cool if I got this professional camera. :]

OH- and I found out this girl finds me attractive. Great. It was all because of that picture. That one picture.

The Function Speed is Dead

That last post was just because I didn't want to study Bio.

Today was fun. Hopefully Kyle does better in real life than in the game. But it's always nice seeing Matt, Tim, and Sarah. (And Rachel and younger Tim)

Yesterday was...pleasant. Ice skating was alright; everyone was better than me though. As in, they could actually get around. Well, I'm glad everyone had fun. :)
Then I went grocery shopping with Laura and Jessica. And we decided to split the cabbage butts. :D

The day before that, I went to go see The Knowing with Sarah C and Jenny. I was the tag-a-long with the two Wingdings.

The day before that was the basketball banquet. That was fun. I'm going to miss playing with the whole team. And turns out, Coach Mario's going to condition us tomorrow. Can't wait. :(

This weekend's been pretty good. :)

The only thing that could make it better is if I could say I worked on "Popularity". Geez, Avi. We need to talk about this.

High of 75

Why did the weather have to be so ideal for conditioning the last week? *sigh*
By the way Avi- butt cheeks still hurt. But with four days off, I have plenty of time to let my butt recuperate. :D

It was the basketball banquet tonight. I got a plaque :]. Like..the shiny kind, not the bad kind in your teeth.
The food was nice. We had fun but I am certain that I'll be with these girls all my high school life whether those four years will be spent balling and running our butts off or just hanging out and running to Starbucks. :P

Plus, Coach Marcus did a cool dance for us.

Anyways, not that much homework this weekend. Just math and the country profile for MUN. BY THE WAY- anyone going to the HB conference: country+committee?

I told my Chinese teacher, Mrs. Chao, about my film director dream. You know what she said? She's like, "That's nice that you found something you like to do. But you know...that's just not practical. You're not going to become a film director. You should have a real career plan like teaching and then if you make lots of money you can go make a movie." And so on.

I don't know if I should be angry or depressed.

Sarah (and Mary)- Thanks for the sympathy. I just hope one day that more people will come to that realization.
Isabel- Hm...small world. I'm not buff. You should see me going through that work out. Jennifer called me afterwards and I was like, "Can I call you back? I can't breathe." And I can't sit down because my butt's sore. :(
Avi- We can just have you be Raymond, can't we? And get E. H. to be Op1. Problem solved.

Popularity Progress:
No progress. Did a little publicity and see if anyone wanted to be an extra but that's about it.

more East Coast.

So....Sunday's ice skating, huh? Noon- 2:30 ice rink then the rest of the time will be used at the mall, I guess. Monday....if anyone's bored I'm right with you so ...yeah. Tell me if you're gonna do anything.

Everything's Magic

Yeah. I looked at this old UCLA picture and I was on Avi's iPod. I remember listening to The Adventure so I looked up Angels & Airwaves. Pretty sweet.

Oh yeah, it's his birthday today. Bow down to his old-ness.

Gee, I feel like I just went to the bathroom today. I mean....I feel relieved. We turned in all this work today and I felt good :]

Until....

CONDITIONING.

Epic fail. We had to run a half mile under 4:30 for warmup then we did this exercise routine afterward. Four times! Let's just say today I ran about two and a half miles plus at least a hundred push-ups, curl-ups, side lunges (badly), and hop things. Oh, and apparently we messed up on the lunges so we had to do air wall sits after.

Tomorrow's agility and footwork so it shouldn't be too bad.

Remember my "realization/ step it up" mini monologue thing I put in last post? Still haven't achieved that. I saw one of the movies for MUN today and trust me, I just felt so angry and frustrated with myself, I couldn't talk to anyone afterwards.
It was good, I admit that but what I was afraid to admit that it was better than the one I edited. And their movie was all with ....those people and it just...it just got me really angry.

Avi? Two words: let's film.

Popularity Progress:
Same nothingness. Gawsh, I feel so uninspired right now. Note the title of my blog. Yeeah. Need more of those.
I'm looking into this $1,100 camera. Don't know if my parents will even think twice about it, though.

Avi- Dude, you should see me at school. I talk. And yes, I'm still very uncomfortable talking to *certain people*
Isabel- You shouldn't. Really. I just like to look like I know what I'm doing. I don't. I don't really know when I 'm going to go over and say hi. I have basketball conditioning starting up again. *bleh*
Sarah (and Mary)- Kevin kinda did a head-nod thing and walked away. I'm sure he says hi to you back on the inside. :D

Anyone want to watch The Knowing over the weekend?

A little picture of Avi (and Matt) to honor his passing of age.

No Time Left for Losing

AP World it is. And now I'm losing Sarah to MUN! :( Ah well, I guess she could do whatever she wants to do.

Lots of English homework to procrastinate on. bleh.
Finished editing the WWI project but it's still too short. A monologue at the end perhaps? Math test on Friday. Kind of scared for that.
We're reading "Fahrenheit 451" in English. I like it better than "Of Mice and Men" so far.
I played basketball with Alysza and Jessica today. It was fun but we were lazy. I hope they had a good time running/jogging/walking. Conditioning next week. BRING IT ON!!!

I realized today that I really need to step it up. With school, my friends, and my future. The last time I've seen my Whitney friends was like...Sadies? And I haven't seen Sarah Z since who knows when. Even though they're all too cool for me now, if I want to see them then I have to make a move.
Same thing with grades. Gotta finish my English homework to up my grade. Gotta train harder if I'm going to make it onto varsity.

Goodness, I need to keep an eye out for a possible internship for film. My dad said he might be able to get me one for Disney in their offices in Burbank but I need to network. I need to WORK ON MY FILM PROJECTS.

which leaves me to...
Popularity Progress:
No real new changes. Still need a Raymond. Did more of the storyboard and I'm pretty much done with that. Film will start hopefully before or during spring break. Need to make a breakdown when I'm sure.

It's almost been a year since the East Coast Trip? Can you believe that?

Rock and Roll

Man, I just heard that song on Sarah Z's blog (which is now Mary's blog too apparently) and I had like two flashbacks at once. When I first heard that song, I was in Chinese class completely fooling around. (The teacher really couldn't care less) Jonathan, the swimming sophomore that always steals my things, showed it to me on his awesome iPod touch.

Then, I thought of that one morning at 5:30 when I was eating before basketball practice when the video came up on VH1. (Nothing's on TV at 5:30 in the morning D:)

I thought I'd share that. :D

ANYWAYS- I'm about to go out to math class and I'm giving up going to visit good ol' chinese school typing this post. *sigh* oh well.

I still have three movies to film. I'm gonna go film the MUN/ History one tomorrow at the park and Albert's house (since he wants us there so bad ...????)

And I hate math.
I used to like math.
Now I hate math.
You'd think I'd like it.
After I got a 97% on my seequnces&series/ probability test.
But I still hate it.

Avi- You know what? Forget it. It was a good show and that's all that matters. I'm wearing my T-shirt right now!
Isabel- Thanks. And just to let you know, I DO have a life. Despite you you see. :P We're pretty gangsta, huh?
Alice- Of course I remember you! You were Tim's date :P

Man. This is the msot anyone's ever commented on this thing. :O

my mood. SO. MUCH. WORK TO DO :(((

I've Longed to Discover

Okay. So I haven't had a video to do for two years. All my previous attempts have been foiled. And now, when it comes down to it, three projects drop in my lap all at once. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I'm just saying.....karma.

So I'm waiting at the library for JV and varsity to finish taking their pictures. It's cold because I'm wearing my jersey and I'm doing my math homework. That pretty much was the most memorable part of my day.

Besides that, Sarah sold yogurt, Kyle voted, and I got my ID back. Finally.

Avi- You made a noticeable amount of noise during the show. XP

Sarah- It was that good. And I'm happy you gave it a chance and watched the film with me. I really appreciate how you support me and my dreams all the time. It means a lot. :)

Isabel- yo, my new homie.

No Day But Today

RENT was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. Being in LA and watching something like RENT really made my weekend. I just have to blog about it, I guess.

Not only was the show great, the people I watched it with were pretty cool too. Except that Avi kept on singing and talking through the first act. :P But yeah, nice conversations. Very productive evening.

ANYWAYS- I think that if you want to get the general idea of RENT, see the movie. The movie (directed by Chris Columbus, by the way) really captures the essence and themes of RENT. Not to mention, the actor's performances were spectacular. If you want to taste where RENT started and really feel what Jonathan Larson wanted you to feel you have to see the musical. I can see why it did so well.

Thank you, Jonathan Larson.

So She Said, "Would You Light My Candle?"

I suppose you don't recognize that lyrics. It's from Christmas Bells from RENT. Only THREE MORE DAYS!!! I'm so excited...I just can't hide it.

Just finished my imperialism thingy. No English homework tonight, so I was free. I went to the Carmenita POPS! Concert. Fun stuff. The band this year's pretty darn awesome. Only one mellophone in the whole thing.
Wait a sec...
mellophone just came up as a spelling error. WHAT THE HELL? Mellophones freakin ROCK! I'm outraged! D:

Anyways....I'm going to take either band or film studies next year. I can't decide.

"Popularity" Progress:

All This Misery Pays No Salary

Why does sickness occur? You know what- don't answer that.
For the last week, I've felt like an unwanted, excess piece of waste. That's right. I felt like crap. Now I'm wheezing my guts out.
At least I could go see Slumdog Millionaire today. Finally. And I watched Changeling just last night. Clint Eastwood knows how to pull at your heartstrings.

Abi's birthday is on Tuesday. So on Wednesday I get to get my haircut. :D
No basketball for a little while. I can't wait until spring league, though.

"Popularity" Progress:

Making Something Out of Nothing

I FINISHED THE SCREENPLAY!!! And I have to say, it's pretty awesome. I'll give my mini-Oscar speech now-
Dude, Avi. You're a friggin' genius for suggesting to use one of Jenny's ideas. We'd still be at square one if it wasn't for your cunningly strategic story ideas. And of course, JENNY IS THE GREATEST MOST FANTASTIC PERSON ON THIS PLANET!!! She creates a masterpiece of a short story adn then let's us use it? Wow.
And let's not forget Sarah for standing there and watching us talk about it. Plus volunteering to be in it. :D

I'm done. :)

Well, this week's been pretty mediocre. I got invited to practice with varsity for CIF. :O That was rather surprising considering I suck. Er....I took a Bio test... Sarah got sick :( .....and girl's varsity knocked the bejinkers outta that first team.

Let's hope they win tomorrow.

While we're hoping, let's hope I won't totally screw up at the MUN conference tomorrow.

And let's hope "Milk" will pick up a couple of Oscars this weekend.

I guess that's it.
Time for a graphic!
